Relationship & Polyamory Counselling in BC and Beyond

Relationship & Polyamory Counselling

What this is

Relationship counselling here is for any configuration — queer couples, same-sex couples, trans partners, polycules, open relationships, and relationship anarchists — whether you are monogamous or non-monogamous.

Navigating any relationship can be challenging at times. Add a relationship structure that does not fit the standard script, and it can be hard to know how to navigate. Hannah, who practices polyamory, brings both lived and clinical experience to this work. She aims to help you work through the emotions that could impede communication, feelings of security, and the overall harmony of your relationship. She also works with monogamous couples to help them reconnect and find joy in their relationships.

Who this is for

Queer and LGBTQ+ Couples Counselling

We work with same-sex couples, trans and non-binary partners, mixed-orientation relationships, and couples where one or both of you is transitioning.

Polyamory, Open Relationships, and Ethical Non-Monogamy

We work with polycules, open relationships, ethical non-monogamy of any kind, relationship anarchy, and people in the middle of opening up, closing down, or renegotiating.

What sessions look like

Relationship sessions are 50 minutes by secure video, and 75 or 90 minutes is often a better fit when more than two people are in the room.

Everyone attending is a client. We do not keep secrets on behalf of one person against another, and we will say so plainly in the first session. If more than two people are involved, we will talk about who is attending which sessions.

Fees

$185 per 50-minute session. Longer sessions available at $255 (75 min) and $306 (90 min). Offered by Hannah Hale, RCC.

What happens in the consult

Our initial meeting will look like a 15-30 minute conversation, ideally with you and your partner(s). We often start the consult giving you a little background on how we approach relationships. This includes policies on confidentiality and secrets. Then, we go into whatever issues have brought you to counselling.

We will let you know some approaches we could utilize in our work together. We will go over the structure of couples sessions, which usually include a 90 minute couples session, and then a 60 minute individual session with you and your partner, and then 90 minute couples sessions for the remainder of our time together.

If everyone feels we would make a good fit, we will direct you to the booking link, which contains the couples counselling intake form and schedule. We ask that you fill out the form before our session, though if you have any questions or concerns we are happy to fill them out with you during our first session.

As always, many aspects of our sessions are up for discussion. These are your sessions and we want you and your partner(s) to be the driving force in this process of change.

Registered Clinical Counsellor #26915

The Last Best Place Counselling is an online counselling clinic. We work with people who are physically located in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, or Nunavut, and who are looking for ethical, affirming, and supportive care.

We work with adults who are physically located in one of the regions we serve.

Our work centres queer, trans, and gender-diverse people. Many of the people we see are also navigating disability, neurodivergence, racism, migration, or other systemic pressures.

We do not currently work with children, and we are not a crisis or emergency service.

If this sounds like the kind of counselling you are looking for, we would love to hear from you. Not sure we are the right fit? Just ask!
