The Last Best Place Counselling
We want this website to be easy to use, easy to read, and welcoming for as many people as possible. Accessibility is part of how we practice care: thoughtfully, relationally, and with attention to power and access.
Our commitment
We are committed to making this website accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities and access needs. Accessibility is an ongoing practice, and we continue to improve this site over time.
This commitment is informed by:
British Columbia’s Human Rights Code, which protects against discrimination on the basis of disability
The principles of universal design
Recognized web accessibility standards
Accessibility standard we aim for
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which is the most commonly referenced accessibility standard in Canada for public-facing websites.
While private counselling practices in British Columbia are not always legally required to meet formal web accessibility standards, we treat accessibility as a matter of ethical practice and care.
Current compliance status
This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Some areas may not yet fully meet all criteria, and we are actively working to improve them.
Accessibility features we aim to maintain
We aim for an accessible experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. This includes:
Clear headings and consistent page structure
Plain language and readable text
High colour contrast for body text and key buttons
Keyboard navigation support
Visible focus indicators
Descriptive link text
Alternative text for meaningful images
Accessible forms and buttons, including labels and error messaging
Known limitations
Some accessibility barriers may still exist. For example:
Third-party platforms may not fully meet accessibility standards
Certain assistive technologies may interact differently depending on browser or device
We do not control the accessibility of external services, but we aim to reduce barriers wherever possible.
Third-party services
Online booking is handled through JaneApp, a third-party platform. While we choose tools carefully, we do not control their accessibility features.
If booking through JaneApp is not accessible for you, please contact us and we will work with you to find an alternative way to book or access information.
Need an accommodation or another format?
If you need information from this website in a different format, or support navigating the site or booking process, please contact us.
You are welcome to share (only what you want):
What you’re trying to do
What barrier you’re encountering
What would make access easier
We will do our best to respond within a reasonable timeframe during business days.
Feedback and accountability
Accessibility feedback is welcome. If something on this site isn’t working for you, we want to know. We take feedback seriously and use it to guide improvements.
Raising an accessibility concern will not affect your access to services or how you are treated by the clinic.
